Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2-3 teaspoons maple extract (start with 2)

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, and water.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  • Let it cook and bubble for 2 to 3 minutes while stirring to dissolve the sugars fully.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the imitation maple extract.
  • Allow the syrup to cool slightly before transferring it to a jar or bottle.

Notes

  1. Storage: Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
  2. Thickening Tip: The syrup will thicken as it cools; add a splash of water and reheat if it becomes too thick.
  3. Balance Flavor: If the syrup is too sweet for you, add a pinch of salt.
